Childcare
Reliable childcare was the engine that kept my childhood home running. Today, it is a financial crisis for many, with costs often exceeding rent and demand outpacing supply. It is time we treat childcare as the critical infrastructure it is. We must work to support our working families, empower our workforce, and build a much more stable economic future for our entire community.
Expand Childcare Subsidies
- I support a graduated phase-out of benefits when a family’s income reaches the 85% income eligibility threshold. Families shouldn't have to fear losing their childcare subsidy immediately just because they accepted a promotion.
- I support removing the income cap to grant automatic, free childcare for the children of early childhood educators and staff. This serves as a powerful, low-cost recruitment and retention tool for a strained industry.
