Live Free or Die
As a gay, Black man and the son of an immigrant, I know that freedom is only as strong as the protections we provide for our most vulnerable. And embracing "Live Free or Die" means having a constitutional backbone. I will partner with the ACLU of New Hampshire to ensure that every bill I introduce is grounded in justice and designed to safeguard the rights of every person.
Champion LGBTQ+ Granite Staters
- I will work to repeal discriminatory legislation such as the HB 377 and HB 619 gender-affirming care bans, as well as the HB 1205 sports ban. Transgender people, and especially trans youth, should feel safe, seen and protected in our community.
- I will oppose any legislation that mandates the forced outing of LGBTQ+ youth by teachers in schools.
Advance Smart Justice
- Public safety and fairness must go hand-in-hand. I support reforms that prioritize rehabilitation over mass incarceration, championing bail and sentencing reforms that treat people with dignity and respect.
- I will support bills that legalize cannabis (building on the framework of legislation like HB 1633), and advocate for automatic annulments for past non-violent cannabis convictions.
Defend Voting Rights
- Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy, not a privilege for the few. I will champion legislation that makes it easier for young people, renters, seniors, and marginalized communities to cast their ballots.
- I will fight to reverse HB 1569, one of the most restrictive voter suppression laws in the country. We need to restore affidavit voting and repeal the strict mandate for proof of citizenship at the polls.
Uphold Immigrant Rights and Dignity
- Our state thrives when we welcome those who come here to build a future. I oppose 287g agreements that turn local police into federal immigration agents. We should instead focus on community trust and protections for our immigrant neighbors.
